I'm Sue Liassides and for 2016 I am joining Tony and the Gardens to Visit team, to offer some timely tips and jottings relating to gardens, gardening, plants and all things horticultural.
Each month there will be a new posting from me, which hopefully you will find both useful and enjoyable. For the moment however, let me introduce myself; Having spent five years studying horticulture and garden design, I set up my own garden maintenance and garden design business in Sussex in 2007. Still going strong to this day, I have also combined it with working for a variety of organisations and gardens including the National Trust at Nymans and the Wyevale Garden centre group. I simply love plants, gardens and gardening and cannot think of a better way to earn a living and ... not wishing to 'blow my own trumpet', I think it's fair to say I know a good garden, or plant when I see it and have a pretty good eye when it comes to garden design, colour, form and texture.
As well as working in my client's gardens, I like nothing better than visiting gardens and going for a good long walk and if I can combine the two in one outing then I am quite simply in heaven. I am of course lucky to live and work in Sussex as there are so many good gardens to see and enjoy in this area. However, I also travel quite widely to visit gardens and have in the past year or so visited gardens all over the UK as well as in Italy and Japan.
So, that's me. As I say, from January I will be writing regularly for Gardens to Visit, but in the meantime if you would like to contact me to tell me of your garden and gardening experiences then simple email firstname.lastname@example.org.
