Lamport Hall and Gardens
“It is open to question whether any other garden the world over contains features of such peculiar interest”
This wonderful comment about the Gardens of Lamport Hall in 1900 remains as true as ever. The Gardens are the result of 450 years’ love and dedication. Visitors can spot features from each century, from the Tudor lawns created around the Hall in the 1560s to a striking 2 acre Walled Cutting Garden with more than 250 rows of perennial plants inspired by leading designer Piet Oudolf.
Covering over 10 acres of landscaped grounds, the Gardens include extensive herbaceous borders and an extraordinary line of 72 Yew trees. A highlight is the famous Lamport Rockery, among the oldest in England and home to the earliest garden gnomes in the country. There’s plenty of colour throughout the whole season. Groups are very welcome, and guided tours are now available.
