The Original Garden Visitor's Guide

RHS Garden Hyde Hall

With sweeping panoramas, big open skies and far reaching views this Essex garden is an inspiration to visitors of all ages. The garden boasts an eclectic range of inspirational horticultural styles from traditional to modern, providing interest and colour, whatever the weather or time of year.

The Hilltop Garden is a quintessentially English with ponds, borders and lush green lawns, while the Robinson Garden is a true plantsman's garden with more unusual species. Head into the Queen Mother's Garden and you'll find an informal, relaxed, planting style with meandering paths and shady walkways throughout. In stark contrast, the Australian and New Zealand Garden has a modern contemporary feel as does the renowned Dry Garden with its fantastic range of drought tolerant plants. On Clover Hill you'll discover vast, naturalistic swathes of grasses and perennials that sweep down the hill to meet Millennium Avenue which is lined with oak and ash trees. Beyond that are two courtyard gardens; one traditionally styled and one modern.

New for 2017 is the Global Growth Vegetable Garden, sponsored by Witan Investment Trust, which showcases fruit and vegetables from around the world.
