Bowood House & Gardens

Bowood House & Gardens; home to the Marquis and Marchioness of Lansdowne, surrounded by 2,000 acres of Grade 1 listed ‘Capability’ Brown parkland, an award winning Walled Garden and a spring Woodland Garden.

Regarded as one of the best-preserved examples of a ‘Capability’ Brown, with a flowing mix of plantations and sweeping lawns leading down to a mile long lake. Behind the Georgian house through a secret door is Lord and Lady Lansdowne’s Private Walled Garden, offering guided tours of the four distinct one-acre square garden’s, comprising of formal borders, a picking garden, glass houses and a working kitchen garden.

With its own separate entrance, Bowood’s 30-acre Woodland Garden reveals a stunning display of Bluebells, Rhododendrons, Camellias and Magnolias. The Woodland Gardens are open for six weeks during the flowering season, from late April to early June.

Discounted combined tickets can be purchased to visit the House & Gardens and the Woodland Gardens.
Facilities: Children’s Adventure Playground, Tractor Ted Little Farm, Gift Shop, House Restaurant, Coffee Shop, and Picnic Area.
Tours: Private Walled Garden Tours and ‘Capability’ Brown Tours available on specific Wednesdays of each month throughout the opening season.
