Chenies Manor House

Winner of an Historic House & Christie's Garden of the Year Award.

Home of the MacLeod Matthews family. The 14th & 15th Century Manor House with fortified tower is the original home of the Earls of Bedford, visited by Henry VIII and Elizabeth I.

The Manor is surrounded by five acres of enchanting gardens including a sunken garden, white garden, physic garden, kitchen garden and two metre high Yew Maze. Guided tours of the house (Wednesdays and Thursdays) every 15 minutes during opening hours.

Private tours by appointment with no extra charge.

Groups: (20+) by arrangement throughout the year. Facilities: Tea and Cake, Lunches for groups (by appointment only) Shop, Plant sales, Art Exhibitions throughout our opening afternoons (please telephone for details).
Special Events: Open Easter Bank Holiday Monday 2nd April 2-5pm.
Bank Holiday Monday 6th May - "Tulip Festival" with thousands of tulips throughout the gardens.
Bank Holiday Monday 28th May 2-5pm.
Famous Plant & Garden Fair Sunday 15th July 10am-5pm (House opens from 2pm) 80+ Plant specialist from around the country. Refreshments all day. Gardens open from 10am.
Bank Holiday Monday 27th August 2-5pm "Dahlia Festival" with many varieties throughout the five acre gardens.
Disabled Access: To the Gardens and Tea Room only (disabled lavatory provided).
