About the Event
Exbury on a summer evening is a pure delight, especially when you are offered a glass of Pimms or a fruit cocktail and have the opportunity to ride the Gardens Steam Railway! For three Friday evenings during July (10, 17 & 24 July) the Gardens will open offering visitors the opportunity to relax in the company of a knowledgeable guide whilst exploring part of the Woodland Garden.
Your evening begins at 7pm with a welcome summer drink on the terrace at Mr Eddy’s Tea Rooms, before boarding carriages for a two-circuit run of Exbury’s ‘Rhododendron Line’. The train passes through the Summer Lane Garden, at its best with herbaceous and perennial plantings. Look out for wildlife on your journey! On the second circuit, the train will ease to a stop at the American Garden, where our guide will lead you on a short 20 min walk back to Mr Eddy’s, taking in the tranquil Jubilee Pond, mysterious Jurassic Boardwalk and the colourful Hydrangea Walk.
A delicious 2-course buffet will be served on the terrace of Mr Eddy’s Tea Rooms (weather permitting!), with food sourced from Hampshire suppliers.
Exbury Head Gardener John Anderson notes: ‘Exbury in the evening is a delightful experience. Small parties are best able to appreciate the tranquil setting, and to have the gardens to yourself is a rare privilege.’ The evening is set to conclude at approximately 10pm.
Spaces are limited so pre-booking is essential. Book now to take advantage of an Earlybird rate. Tickets include welcome cocktail on arrival, 2 circuit train journey along Exbury’s Rhododendron Line, guided walk and two-course Hampshire sourced buffet at Mr Eddy’s Tea Rooms.
