About the Event
We are delighted to welcome back popular Carmarthenshire artist Jayne Russell who exhibits her latest collection of charming and delightful paintings for the fourth time at Picton.
Jayne Russell is a predominantly self taught artist based in Carmarthenshire. She moved to Wales with her family from the Midlands over 30 years ago, having to achieve her Art A Level in 1 year rather than 2 due to her fathers work and has painted ever since!
The old cottage she shares with her husband & pets is also where she has her small art studio., working there most days amongst the happy chaos!
Her main love is watercolour – a medium she feels gives a freshness to her work, although she also enjoys painting acrylic on canvases, to produce bright cheerful flower scenes, coastal paintings or snowy woodlands….. Always fascinated by old buildings, she enjoys painting wonderful old Towns and Villages, usually including bustling people and animals.
More recently she has been getting commissions to paint people’s pets, mainly dogs, in watercolour which she loves. Another side to her work are her fun animals, usually nosey cows or nosey dogs. Kids and adults alike just love them!
Visitors to her Exhibitions and collectors of her work love trying to spot ‘Mavis’ with her black cat – one of her regular characters which pop up in her many of her paintings. ‘Mavis is a busy little old lady’ Jayne says, ‘she likes to visit lots of places and you can often see her heading towards a pub, or chatting up a gentleman’! Ask Jayne about her work and she will tell you: “I like to produce paintings that make people smile”!
Normal Garden Entry Fees apply – there is no extra charge to see the exhibition.
