Fullers Mill Garden
Fullers Mill is an award-winning seven-acre garden that's a tranquil, peaceful and enchanting waterside oasis set in the heart of Suffolk. It combines dappled woodland with a plantsman's collection of trees, shrubs, perennials, lilies and marginal plants to create a year-round garden. Views of its fantastic displays of form and colour reflect off its mill pond, the River Lark and Culford Stream throughout the seasons.
Our flowering season start in February when over 100 varieties of snowdrop bloom throughout the garden. This is followed by fresh new growth in spring as the garden comes to life, full of hope and new beginnings. Scented lilies begin a succession of flowering to create a spectacular show of
fragrance and colour into summer. As autumn starts to draw closer, fiery foliage, late-flowering perennials and the gentle sound of the River Lark create a peaceful atmosphere. Breathe in the crisp air, soak up the vibrant reflections, and lose yourself among the dappled light through the trees in this peaceful retreat.
Its plant centre has a wide range of plants for sale, its gift shop is stocked with seasonal cards, stationery and gifts for gardeners, and its tea room serves hot and cold beverages, sweet and savoury snacks, cakes and ice cream.
The garden was created by the late Bernard Tickner MBE (1924 - 2017). He moved to Fullers Mill in 1958 and spent over 50 years creating the garden you see today from rough scrub and woodland. In 2013, for its long-term preservation, the garden was generously gifted to Perennial, the UK's only charity dedicated to helping everyone who works in horticulture and their families by providing free, essential advice, support, services and a helpline for anyone in horticulture from new starters to retirees.
