Herstmonceux Castle Gardens & Grounds

The moated 15th century Herstmonceux Castle is the stunning centrepiece of a beautiful 300 acre estate, with woodland trails as well as tranquil themed and formal gardens to wander around at your leisure. Our gardeners and estate workers take great pride in their work and this is much in evidence throughout the year.

From the spring-time azaleas, magnolias and rhododendrons, the colourful herbaceous borders in summer and the glorious hues of autumn, there is much for visitors to admire.

Beyond formal gardens like the Rose, Elizabethan and Shakespeare, the grounds extend into open areas and woodland, including a children's play area, and are ideal for families to explore. Dogs on leads are also welcome. Guided tours of the Castle are offered, subject to availability - please check the website for dates and times.
