Haddon Hall

Asset 1

Haddon Hall's gardens are a rare and remarkable example of Elizabethan terraced gardens that escaped the English Landscape Movement. Their original design is attributed to famed 16th century architect Robert Smythson.

In recent years two of the terraces have undergone re-design by Gold Medal winning Garden Designer, Arne Maynard, inspired by the Hall's fine collection of tapestries and historic motifs such as the medieval flowery mead.

The organically managed gardens are home to a Knot Garden showcasing the jewels of Elizabethan planthunting and plantsmanship; borders awash with colour and structure throughout the season and a myriad of roses climbing the ancient stone walls and buttresses.
