Hartland Abbey was the last monastery to be dissolved in 1159. By a small stream flowing into the Atlantic, this cherished family home since the Dissolution has stunning interiors, fascinating architecture, collections and family memorabilia; it is a perfect day out in any weather. Enjoy the beautiful gardens and walks, much of them hidden since 1914; restoration has unearthed the Fernery and Bog Garden by Jekyll, woodland walks of azaleas, rhododendrons and stunning blue hydrangeas, the Gazebo overlooking the Atlantic and Woodland Summerhouse. The intimate18thC Walled Gardens overflow with herbaceous, tender and rare perennials, climbers, vegetables and fruit. Glasshouses of dazzling houseplants which fill the Abbey interiors. Historic daffodils, tulips, bluebells and wildflowers enchant early visitors. Location for BBC Antiques Roadshow.

Walks lead to the beach and Blackpool Mill where BBC's'Sense and Sensibility', 'The Night Manager' and 'The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society' were filmed recently.
