RHS Garden Rosemoor - A garden for all seasons
RHS Garden Rosemoor: The Perfect Day Out for Groups Images: RHS Jason Ingram Nestled in North Devon's beautiful Torridge Valley, Rosemoor is a hidden gem and a real treat for garden lovers at any time of year. Spread across 65 acres, the original garden was created by Lady Anne Berry and has continued to develop as a true plantsman's garden. With plenty of areas of interest, it is consistently rated as one of the best places in the UK to see roses, with other highlights including remarkable 150 metre Long Borders, a vibrantly coloured Hot Garden and an Arboretum containing Lady Anne's meticulous records of the origin of every plant in her collection. There is also a newly opened Cool Garden. Designed to complement the Hot Garden, it is centred on the use of water, featuring plants with blue, white and pastel coloured flowers complemented by grey foliage.
Spring sees fabulous colour with wood anemones, daffodils, rhododendrons and camellias. In summer, the Wildflower Meadows change into a dramatic yellow and purple haze, the Hot Garden matures with its spectacular hues and the Mediterranean garden is rich with classic scents and shades. Autumn brings plenty to see in the potager, fruit and vegetable gardens, with winter highlights of colour, scent and texture, including Rosemoor's national collection of hollies.
A calendar of events includes Wordsworth's Spring Flower Festival (14-15 March), RHS National Rhododendron Show (25-26 April), 30 Anniversary Weekend (6-7 June), NEW: August Festival featuring a Vintage Weekend (1-2 August) Community Garden Fete (8-9 August), RHS Garden Rosemoor Flower Show (14–16 August) and an Artisan Food Fair (29–30 August), Taste of Autumn (2 – 4 October)
