RSPB The Lodge nature reserve and gardens is one of the best places in the county to visit wildlife friendly gardens in attractive natural landscapes. Gardeners will enjoy the beautiful gardens around The Lodge, which are the UK headquarters of the Royal Society for the Protections of Birds. The gardens are specially managed for wildlife and combine stunning borders and sprawling wisterias with bumble bees, butterflies and places for herons to catch fish and geese to raise their young.

It is an exemplar of gardening for wildlife, with lots of tips and examples for visitors to take home: plant bee-friendly plants, create log piles and compost heaps, and let the grass grow long! Wildlife friendly plants used in the gardens are available to purchase from The Gatehouse Shop.
