Sherborne Castle & Gardens

Asset 1

Sherborne Castle is one of Dorset's best kept secrets. Built by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1594 and home of the Digby family since 1617; view glorious staterooms displaying nationally important collections of Art, Furniture & Porcelain with Raleigh's kitchen and a museum in the cellars. The 'Great Stories of Sherborne Castle', our 'Capability' Brown and Raleigh displays bring to life the key historical moments of the Castle.

Explore 42 acres of Gardens offering delightful walks around a 50 acre lake with spectacular views, stunning herbaceous borders, magnificent champion trees and sweeping lawns. Colour is provided throughout the season, from spectacular displays of spring bulbs and daffodils, through extensive summer borders to the breath taking colours of autumn reflected in the lake.

Must see Garden features include Raleigh's Seat, the Cascade and a new Fossil House. After taking an invigorating walk, take lunch in our award winning Tea Room or browse our Gift Shop. New for 2019 – Pre-bookable Garden Tours & Themed Castle Tours for groups are available to reveal our fascinating history.
