Stillingfleet Lodge Garden is a peaceful, wildlife-friendly, family garden just outside York. Lovingly created over more than 40 years by owners Vanessa and John Cook, it's often described as a quintessential English garden - informal, charming and full of character. Set within four acres, the garden unfolds as a series of themed spaces around a traditional farmhouse. It is a fine example of how to balance wildlife gardening with retaining all the beauty of a cottage garden. Throughout, you will see how organic gardening methods and thoughtful planting create a haven for birds, bees and other wildlife.

The well-stocked nursery is a particular delight for plant lovers. Known for its excellent collections of hardy geraniums and pulmonarias, it offers many unusual perennials-around 90% grown on site. After exploring the garden, relax with tea and homemade cake in the attractive Tea Room and enjoy the regularly changing art exhibitions and the locally-sourced gifts.
